Changing the Script on Triggered Eating

Mental, Retreat

Friday May 6th | 1:30-2:15

Many disordered eating behaviors stem from turning to food as a surrogate for what you needed most, but didn’t get relationally. These patterns often begin in early relationships with your primary caregivers and carry over into present day relationships. These patterns are encoded in your brain and called upon every time primal needs are not met. In this session you’ll learn more about:

  • Learning how the formation and origin of your relationships are an important component to changing a maladaptive coping skill to an adaptive one.
  • Identifying the situations that trigger eating for you.
  • Changing scripts/associations that trigger eating with actions that will still allow your needs to be met.
